Amena joined TFE in the summer of 2022 and hasn’t looked back!
Amena has been working with certified personal trainer Emma since joining, and said, “I can honestly say that Emma keeps me motivated and helps create goals that are relevant and attainable.” They began training once a week, and bumped it up to twice a week. This consistency has helped Amena become more familiar with strength training and has helped tailor her workouts to not only focus on cardio, but also strength training. Prior to joining TFE, she focused heavily on cardio.

What does fitness mean to you?
Years ago, fitness to me meant appearing thin. Now, it means having increased stamina and strength.
When did your fitness journey begin?
Not really sure when my fitness journey began, as I have been working out most of my adult life. I feel like a new, mini-journey started after different life changes and milestones in my life: anytime I changed jobs, after having kids, after foot surgery and certain age milestones. The most recent journey started about 9 months ago when I realized I needed to change my workout plan because my goals had changed. I no longer want to focus on looking thin. I want to focus on being strong.
Fun little fact about me – I’m actually a Registered Dietitian (but I now work in a different field). Healthy, balanced eating is a big part of my life so adding the right kind of workout plan to my current lifestyle has been amazing.
